In response to identified community need, Refuge for Women will open the first Emergency Housing and Support Services Program in Fall, 2019. The Emergency House will be located on the Garrard County property where the long-term house currently resides. We will be able to house 16 women. The women can stay up to 90 days with the hope that many will transition to our long-term programming or a partner service provider. While in the Emergency House, women will have the opportunity to receive individual and group therapy, case management, advocacy, medical and dental care, as well as a host of other support services. The Emergency House is in the development phase of an equine therapy program that will be on the Garrard County property.
We are working to establish a crisis line and response teams to meet the immediate needs of the women who call for help. We will offer a full array of services and will have approximately 20 full-time staff. We are partnered with the Office of the Attorney General of KY and are forming other relationships with KY State Police and local law enforcement. We believe many of our referrals will come from law enforcement. We will have a diversified funding base including federal, state, and foundation grants, third party payments, as well as private donations. Our ultimate goal is to provide a safe place for exploited women to catch a glimpse of a future full of freedom and hope and to experience, even for 1 day, the love Jesus has for each of them.
