I am a graduate of the Refuge for Women program and over the Christmas holiday I had the opportunity to go back to Chicago and visit some friends.  What a blessing to spend time with the woman and ministry that rescued me out of the clubs just over a year ago.  God put it on my heart to go visit an old friend that I used to work with in the clubs.  I reached out to her and told her I was waiting for her outside her apartment.  I did not hear anything back…  I waited and waited, because God said to.

Four hours later my friend came out to see me.  After a big hug and tears, I gave her a bible and the book, Scars and Stilettos by Harmony Dust.  I told her that I loved her and will continue praying for her.  She told me that she (and several other dancers), were following my journey.  She told me many of the women stopped dancing because of my story and the hope that it brought them.  That makes me so happy.  That is why I must tell my story to others.

As for my friend, she’s still walking in darkness in the sex industry.  She’s miserable and about at the bottom of the pit.  Her facebook statuses scare me to read as I can feel her pain and hopelessness.  She reminds me of where I was.  A world filled with so much pain, abuse, addiction and darkness.  It feels like you are going to die, and some days you hope you do.

I did what God called me to do. I waited for 4 long hours to love on her.  Now, I will pray for her healing and deliverance.  I am thanking God for HIS healing power, for breaking the chains that held me captive and for setting me free to be all He wants me to be and has called me to be.  I am grateful to be a godly woman and mother to my baby Sarah!

Thanking God for new beginnings!
